In his previous roles as Senior Associate Consultant at the Mayo Clinic and Professor in Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Joyce established a robust practice in the management of a wide variety of cardiovascular conditions including: Angina, Aortic Dissection, Aortic Regurgitation, Aortic Stenosis, Bicuspid Aortic Valve, Aneurysms of the Great Vessels, Atherosclerosis/Coronary Artery Disease, Infective Endocarditis, Mitral Stenosis, Mitral Valve Regurgitation, Rheumatic Heart Disease, Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms, Atrial Myxoma, Constrictive Pericarditis, Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension, Atrial Fibrillation, Heart Rhythm Disorders, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Heart Failure, Cardiogenic Shock, as well as Atrial and Ventricular Septal Defects. By implementing the newest technologies and minimally invasive treatments, Dr. Joyce approaches every patient with a customized plan to meet the unique goals and challenges that each condition presents. Patient safety, durability of the treatment effect, and rapid return to normal activity represent the overarching themes in crafting this strategy. Dr. Joyce completed an Executive MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he studied negotiation and persuasion–skills which he credits for his successful marriage proposal to Dr. Joyce Sanchez, an infectious disease specialist at EIRMC. When he’s not performing complex cardiac surgical procedures, he enjoys chasing his kids down the terrain parks of the mountain west.
